Ampoule: Illuminated Vase Design

Ampoule is not your ordinary vase. Standing at an impressive height of 205 cm, it is specifically crafted to hold just one flower, making it a truly special piece. Made from Poleasy, a patented cleanable polyethylene material, this lighting giant pot is both visually stunning and functional.

The manufacturing process involves rotational molding of polyethylene using an aluminum mold. This technique ensures the creation of a durable and high-quality product. Ampoule is available in various finishes, including embossed, glossy, and mysofty for indoor use.

What sets Ampoule apart is its ability to illuminate. It can be equipped with an E27 lighting kit suitable for energy-saving bulbs up to 32 W or an RGB bulb controlled by a remote. This feature adds an extra layer of enchantment, allowing the vase to create a mesmerizing ambiance.

Despite its towering height, Ampoule remains firmly anchored to the ground. It comes with a mounting bracket and a ballast that provide stability, ensuring that this design giant stands tall and proud.

The creation of Ampoule was not without its challenges. The designer aimed to translate the poetry of the concept into an industrial design product while integrating the water bulb for the flower seamlessly into the stem's geometry. Through careful research and innovative thinking, Traverso successfully achieved this goal.

The Ampoule design project took eight months to complete, with work taking place in Vicenza and Padua, Italy. The designer's research focused on utilizing the roto-molding technique to create an item suitable for industrial production while maintaining a straight stem. The use of Poleasy, a material known for its reduced porosity and easy cleanability, further enhances the design's practicality.

Ampoule has received recognition for its outstanding design. In 2014, it was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category. This prestigious accolade is bestowed upon designs that showcase creativity, resourcefulness, and technical excellence, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
